Family Unit

We are all together again, we are here, we are here.  Yes, Jason has arrived safely and in good spirits. Porter is very happy to see a 3D version of Daddy and to play hide and seek with him…all evening long! So far, we’ve already taken Jason to Willowbank, Sumner Beach, and the Botanic Gardens. There is still so much to do!
Jason has been at home during the day, unpacking, cleaning house, and preparing dinner. This is awesome! And, the weather has been cooperating lately so we are enjoying the yard and sunshine.
I am looking into swimming lessons for Porter. I think that it is time he starts since he’s trying to float on his back and tummy while in the tub.
Porter is also doing very well in daycare. He is making friends and learning how to play with others. His best friend at daycare is Will; almost every story from daycare involves Porter playing with Will.
Work is going well for me. I’m accruing time off quickly (gotta love NZ’s rules for paid time off) and we will be able to go back to Texas and South Dakota over the Christmas and New Year. Hard to believe, but this will be the last time that Porter will be able to fly home for “free”!

A Busy Life

Yes, I know…it has been too long since I’ve posted to this blog. I’ll admit, I’ve been super busy and finding the time to write has been almost impossible. Porter is so active now and demanding of attention. I’d rather play with him than write!
Let’s see…what has happened in the last 3 weeks.

  • ·         At daycare, Porter moved up to a “big boy” bed. It is basically a small cot that he sleeps in that doesn’t have any bars to keep him in! He is doing well with that so I’m hoping that transitioning him to a real bed in the future will be easier than anticipated.

  • ·         Porter got the Chickenpox! As bad as it sounds, it really wasn’t TOO bad. He didn’t itch them and they came and went rather quickly. I’m glad that was uneventful!

  • ·         Porter has been forming words. He now says (in baby language, of course), Bubbles, duck, dog, what’s that, and banana.

In even bigger news, Jason will be arriving next week! We are all so excited to have him here and be a family again. I’m going to do my best to film Porter’s reaction to the first time he sees Daddy.
With not too much to say, I’ll leave you with a million pictures!
